British Units Mistargetting in DLC Italy Vol1, Scenario 2

In DLC Italy Vol1 Scenario 2, British Landing if I tell my unit to fire on a particular unit it ignores my target and fires at an alternative target. This has happened with an Infantry unit, a Tank unit and an Artillery unit. This same mis-targeting happened also in Scenario 1 but only with 1 unit.
What is going on? This has never happened to me before in Panzer Corps 2.

Check the heroes assigned to the unit that is targeted instead of the one you want to target. A hero with Provocator ability will cause the attack to hit him, instead of another unit as long as the attacker is adjacent to the Provocator. There's one enemy unit with this trait in the British Landing mission.

You are correct, Tassader, thank you. I am at Pachino Airfield and have just made the unit there retreat with 1 health. He is adjacent to and surrounded by my infantry, a tank and artillery. Since that unit only has 1 health I was targetting other healthier units first before dealing with him last. Every attack I tried on another unit always went to this lone guy! Yes, he does have a Provocator Hero. Since I have never encountered a Provocator Hero before, I had no idea such a unit could exist and am a little surpised no mention of this unusual Provocator has been noted in any info about the DLC.
Thanks, Rob

Keep your fingers crossed for getting one such hero for yourself from the random hero pool. Used correctly he makes the AI do really silly things, you can set up sweet traps utilizing terrain and proper support fire.
Small example from Frontlines: Cyrenaica - see the 9 strength infantry that's baiting all enemies into support fire hell thinking they can get vulnerable artillery. It's a bit risky, but when it works it's massive.
