This is a campaign for two players (but more players can potentially can step in occasionally on the Lying Kings side).

=> An Achaemenid Persian civil war after the death of Cambyses, focusing on Darius I!

It will pit Achaemenid Persian army lists against each other, with the use of regional allies, in Ancients battles.

The rules are board game style, quite complex, so if you’re interested in that and the era in question, and committed to a slow and steady campaign played out on a DISCORD server =>

=> PM me and we can discuss.

The wonderful map is from The Conquerors board game about Alexander the Great, somewhat adapted to this campaign.

The LYING KINGS campaign depicts the turbulent early years of the reign of Darius I in the late sixth century BC, when the Achaemenid Empire was shaken by widespread revolts and rival claimants to the throne.

In the years following his accession as King of Kings in 522 BC, Darius faced a wave of rebellions across the Achaemenid Empire. Rival claimants—denounced by Darius as “Lying Kings” because, in his view, they deceived the people by asserting illegitimate claims to kingship—rose to challenge his authority. Each sought to legitimize his rule by invoking local traditions, dynastic claims, or divine sanction, and in many regions, they briefly succeeded in seizing control.
