One point to note in the three tables. There were a lot more decisive games in the later period. And I think a lower proportion of decisive games than last year. Is this because the armies normally have less BG in the later period and early period armies were bigger this year? I think the armies I fought averaged out at 15.5 BG.

I suspect Phil's battle reports will be quite simple.

Put the fortified camp in the middle of the table at least 6 MU in
Send a flank march
Deploy no more than 2 BGs (including any flank march) to one side of the camp

That's it.

Be lucky with the draw and lucky with the dice. Use an outrageous plan that is so bad nobody believes you will use it. But on a less serious note
Game 1
Nubian
A great match up for my first game. My opponent lost a lot of terrain so I had a wide open half of the table were I deployed. He then made the mistake of keeping his LF too close to his bow. This meant that when I charged they evaded and I was still in normal move of his MF. So he got practically no shooting against my cav, which would really have hurt. In the shooting he did get I lost 2 bases. I thnik my cav only got shot by the MF 3 times.
Game 2
Parthian
And a very surpising Parthian at that. This was saturday Morning  . Not a lot happened except trying to avoid the Pikes and Cats. I think :?
Game 3
Samanid
I caught the Samanid cavalry as it tried to evade. Yippeee! Also Paul used 5 BG to try and stop my Flank March. So I had a vast superiority in numbers where I was fighting.
Game 4
Dom Rom
A bit more terrain than I would have liked, so I compounded my plan by putting 2 BG of lancers in Ambush. It worked a treat when my FM came on quite early. Only one of the BG that I routed actually managed to make its first rout move. The remainder died due to not being able to exit the other side of their troops as mine were in the way. Time was called before any major losses and Tim was starting to get into my isolated lancers.
Game 5
Nikephoran Byzantine
Lancer Fest. I got into the flank of the Nikes before he got mine. a Treble 6 on the death roll and cohesion also helped when he did hit my flank.
Game 6
Dom Rom
I was very lucky with terrain and had a wide open table except for 1 bit to my left and a couple on my base line. manged to get a BG of LH after chasing it around for an hour. Then just managed to get back into a fighting formation before the Romans were in a good position. Do not underestimate how far cav can move if there is some LF in the way. Then got 3 BG of MF before time. Lost my camp but it slowed the enemy down well enough.

A great weekend for me. But to win Britcon I think you need a little bit of help from the Gods, I got it all, my opponents got very little.

Quite agree Phil.

In my final 2 games both my opponents suffered terribly from poor dice - John in melee, Julian on cohesion. And I managed to avoid my worst match up - knights - oher than 2 BGs in my first game.

I testify, He did squeal 8) but we had fun that is what was more important . he just forget's my beautifull double ace for the last morale test with average spearmen, with a IC but suffering a -3 to moral and already being disrupted + having lost melee by 2 ......you see the result ! :(

I know that I enforced a change on the list because my interpretation of the wording of the list books differs from that of the list checker.

Terry had an Ottoman ally which meant that his Bosnian 'internal' ally was illegal.

As to what was in the army I really can't remember other than some knights, some light horse and some light foot.

Why not systematicaly publish the lists ? It might be interesting and anyway, a list that works for one person will not work for another, just a question of gaming style

Where is every list for every competition going to go.
Tim is doing a stirling job on his website, but even he can't keep up. Though he obviously has little else to do.

sent them to the players and they can stock it on their PC for as long as they want ! I am always amazed at those people that take note of the army of their opponent :D
