Lancers and POAs

Hi,

Lancers have no POAs against non charging formed spears or pikes during impact.

CVs with light spears have a + POA always against pike or spears.

As a result, the CVs are better than the Lancers, although the latter are SHOCK troopers and historically better charging infantry with spears or pikes. Is this application of POAs correct? Are CVs actually better in this situation?

Thanks

Fabrizio

It's not correct.

Mounted troops with LIght Spear only get a + POA at impact only if no other net POA's ie other POAs cancel.
So, against HF spearmen the POA's do not cancel and so the mounted will be on a minus POA, light spear does not count.

Against MF spearmen during the impact the mounted can get a + POA for fighting MF in the open. The POA's in this case would cancel so the mounted light spear comes into play, giving the mounted a + POA.

Let's see if I understand.

CV vs. HF spearmen: Since HF spearmen have a net + POA that isn't canceled by another POA, the CV's light spear is invalid. The final situation is a + POA for HF spearmen.

CV vs. MF spearmen: Since MF spearmen have a + POA that's canceled by mounted in open terrain against MF, the light spear's + POA can be applied. The final situation is a + POA for CV.

Is that correct?
