Hi guys

I saw sth I had not seen before. Artillery firing at a ship. I suspect it was because the ship was in port. Anybody seen this before?

It'll be because the artillery targeted a specific hex rather than the unit, using the target hex icon. I've done it before, quite effective but utter nonsense :)

Ah yes, seems so. But it deals 0 damage..

Bombard is expensive :

PS: even the boats off shore can be targeted

Conclusion :

- bombing is a feature that costs money (-5 resources) to use while blind bombing is still often used even in modern conflicts with so-called precision weapons in Europe currently, so at what price would it be useful :?:

- could we not add a minimum damage on ships by counting on luck especially on larger vessels easier to reach :?:

the problem is and would be, the ammo used, HE is not AP, so rather a waste on a heavily armed ships, maybe something lighter, it may cause something but damage as a whole to surface ships, from such light weapons, i'm not so sure

In Panzer Corps 2, artillery units can directly attack ships and inflict damage :

I think Order of Battle is pretty realistic.
Artillery could never be accurate enough to hit moving ships.

I also like other examples like that AA guns can only protect ground units and not ships or planes.

Or that gunboats and destroyers deal more damage to ground targets than cruisers and battleships (because they were really used for coastal targets)

The only thing that still annoys me is how some fighters can deal 1 or even 2 damage to destroyers. Should be 0

With modern artillery it could become possible :

I think that AA guns can protect the ships, but if there are already 3 ships covering, then the AA-guns are not firing?

The smaller ships are better to kill ground targets and bigger ships to give suppression is mostly realistic. But when the small ships are firing the coastal batteries, they should do nothing :D

Depends. there are also small coastal guns. Just with this metal shield protection like old destroyers had them. I just hate that fighter planes can damage warships, radars etc
