I made an alternative map Mediterranean map without Italy and more space for ships.
Hopefully it will be more difficult to intercept convoys now.

Thanks.

It's not tested yet. But should be fine. I used the same scenario, just changed the map

in version 5.2

I removed the supply ships altogether to encourage players to fight on the islands as well and not concentrate all forces in North Africa. Players were just keeping the supply ships in Tripoli and Alexandria to be able to support more units in North Africa, and it was getting predictable.
You should still have fun hunting with your submarines though, even without supply ships, because you can still target the convoys.

When you want to invade Crete or Malta, you can supply your units from your warships and capture coastal settlements, and you can bomb the enemy's settlements to limit how many ground troops he can deploy. So I think it will be fine even without supply ships.

Also I tried to make Crete look less shit. Succeeded only partially. Need to keep it a bit shorter and thicker than in reality to have space for ground troops to maneuver and so that it's not too close to Malta :-D

Thanks to Faranicius and jlgarcia for testing!
