The Iberian knights managed to get their charge in earlier and harder, which probably made the difference. Both sides had moments where their military order knights disgraced themselves (double drops).

Faced with endless quantities of archers much of it mounted, the Portuguese sensibly hid in a wood and tried to keep to the rough ground. An increasingly bad situation convinced the Portuguese to abandon caution and charge everything they could reach. I had enough luck to survive the advance to contact and then the knights played their usual tune on the bodies of their enemies. The infantry played their part very well. Massed archers did very well against armoured lancers in open ground. Rallied and shot everything to death.

Skillful use of a stream largely nullified the Anglo Norman advantage in heavy cavalry and the flanks were picked apart by impact foot. A bit closer than the score suggest perhaps with both sides having units in suboptimal positions.

The German dice were not good in this one, everything going the Crusaders way!

My opponent bravely crossed a stream and assaulted a built up area with his cavalry only to get shot up badly. This proved his undoing and an early bath. Sporting opponent who on reflection felt he should have gone for the reroll. Given the composition of the forces and the terrain I would agree.

The Anglo Irish heavy cavalry did it's best but could only stem the bleeding as the Irish infantry by and large couldn't stand up to waves of Baltic Impact foot crashing into them from the front and sides.

gort7078 and the Anglo-Normans defeated Indibil and his Seljuks 13-42

The Anglo-Normans were helped out immensely by a crushing opening cavalry charge on the Seljuk's right flank!

A very hard fought battle. The Irish managed to shoot up the Norman lancers enough to then finish them with knights and foot. The dismounted knights were however as super tough as always, surviving multiple enemies and flank charges.

Absolutely down to the wire. I finally managed to pull a victory from somewhere by auto routing his Byzantine lancers over the end turn to pull off a quite unexpected victory.

Baltic impact foot breaks up much of the Byzantine Left including Byzantine Knightly Lancers before sweeping towards a badly bloodied centre and right where an equally powerful left hook began dismantling slowly some of the Western Knights fighting for the Byzantines.

Weirdly though the Byzantine losses scores during the startup of what would have been my turn just as victory is declared shifts the Byzantine losses score 2 points from 57 to 55. Does anyone know why that would happen? I did have a unit rally at the beginning of my turn.

Maybe a non routed byzantine unit previusly chased off the map returned at the last moment?
