I am not a specialist of the period. So I need help to understand the lists of the French Wars of Religion (1562 – 1598) and especially :

1) the absence of "French Catholic" from 1590 to 1595
The Catholic league seems to keep on fighting the French Royal Army on the Spanish side till the battle of Fontaine-Française in June 1595.

2) the presence of "French Huguenot" from c. 1594 to 1610 in the following lists :
- French Huguenot 1589-1599
- French Huguenot 1600-1610

Is there still an "Huguenot" army after their leader, Henri III of Navarre, converts to Catholicism in 1593, becomes king of France (Feb. 1594) as Henri IV of France and thus leader of the "French Royal Army", declares war against Spain (Apr. 1595), is absolved by the Pope (1595) and is followed by most of both sides, except the Catholic league till 1595 ? Is there a "French Huguenot 1600-1610" after the end of the War and the Edict of Nantes (1598) ?

In game, the first "French" list is "French 1611-1622", that is after Henri IV of France died, that is when his son Louis XIII became King, as if Henri IV had never been the King of France and the leader of the French Royal Army, as if he had been the leader of the Huguenot/Protestant party till his death.

As I see it...
I am certainly wrong.That's why I need help.
(I also know that multiplying the number of the lists in game is unwanted.)

As I currently see it :
1) There could be a list of "French Catholic (or Catholic league) 1590-1595"
2) "French Huguenot 1589-1599" could be divided into :
- "French Huguenot 1589- c.1593"
- "French c.1594-1599"
3) "French Huguenot 1600-1610" could be renamed "French 1600-1610"

What am I missing ?
Are there battles after say 1593 involving only-Huguenot armies against French Catholics (including Henri IV's Royal army ?) ?

The lists follow the lists in FOGR.

From that: "The Catholic League armies that continued to resist Henri [after 1590] are covered by the Early Imperial Spanish list." - This is because they could no longer form independent armies.

The Huguenot list in FOGR covered "French Huguenot armies from the start of the wars of Religion in 1562 until the accession of Henri IV in 1589, and then the royal armies until the assassination of Henri in 1610".

When the list was split up in P&S the nomenclature for the 1600-1610 list could certainly have changed to "Royal French" or something like that, but it did not occur to me. Sorry.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of these lists being published (even though it is logical). I know of "FoGR: the rules" and "Wars of Religion: 1610-1660". Reading information about the armies in the latter was very informative. I have never thought of looking for a book about the 16th century lists.

It's just that Henri IV is one of the most famous kings in France. So are his role in the pacification of the country, his conversion to Catholicism and the Edict of Nantes. So seeing Henri IV as a Huguenot till 1610 was just suprising to me (without all the explanations you provided above).

Still surprised by firing units that are weak chargers, such as Reiters and Arkebusiers, not trying to evade when charged by better chargers, such as Late Gendarmes and especailly Kurassiers, as non-lancer cavalry do when charged by Lancer cavalry in FoG2M.

Nonetheless, I must admit I happily use a mod providing a greater mobility to most non-light "cav" (in a broad sense). There is no automatic evasion, only an area on the back of the unit where it can spend its APs, a smaller area than light horses. While not being strictly the same mechanism as automatic evasion, it provides a greater yet quite limited ability to react to enemy moves, which seems to me very interesting (much more than automatic evasion btw)
