one of the new additions to Cyrenaica is an Italian Mortar Infantry Unit. curiously there aren't German Infantry Mortar units? apparently German Infantry made extensive use of the 8 cm and the 5 cm Granatwerfer 34/36 mortars during WW2. If I knew how to MOD, I would add Mortar Units. according to history, German Infantry "made extensive use of mortars with well over 100,000 put into action reflecting their importance in German Infantry Doctrine and the number of Divisions they equipped". The Germans also had Machine Gun Units that were basically like snipers specializing in Camouflage and Ambush. of course after their initial devastating surprise ambush they were then exposed and could be quickly eliminated depending on their entrenchment factor or pre-planned Rapid Retreat, assuming that were possible. But these Machine Gun Units could wreak havoc and buy precious time for other units to retreat and set up a new line of defense. Machine Gun Hero. Quadriple Gun, Camo, Ambusher, No Overstrength

Mortars are already included in the unit.

IMO they make most sense as separate units when the maps are on a smaller scale. So Cyrenaica indeed, which I guess was also the idea of the creators. Maybe less so on a big scale, like for example the vanilla cam.

Right now modders can clone the Italian unit, but getting specific visuals just via modding is another matter...

They were never included in the original design deliberately. They made no sense at the scale the game was designed for.

Since the introduction of th eItalian unit we've toyed with the idea of making it more universal but the decision is still out.

Order of Battle has switchable Mortar units. but they are vulnerable to attack when in fire mode

as for the Modding I was speaking of the Mods on Steam. it would just be another unit in one of the packages you subscribe to in the Workshop
