Panzer General (Allied) vs Ike99 (Axis)
Vanilla Game
Fog of War and Oil Consumption is on
This is both mine and Panzer Generals first PBEM game so mistakes will be made. This AAR is open so much information will not be showed or will be delayed.
Turn 1
Germans break over the Polish frontier. My thinking in the first turn was to destroy as many of his Corp units as possible or hurt them as severe as possible. I was moderately successful. He seemed to want to run away.

Turn 3
Both Poland and Denmark surrendered on turn 3. In the North Atlantic a U boat attacked a Allied convoy. No escorts were around so there was no counter attack to my U boat.

It took me awhile to figure this out, but a very effective way to attack Poland is to try to cut off a couple Polish units on turn 1. That way, they can't withdraw to screen Warsaw and you can pretty much guarantee a 3-turn capture at the most. Two Polish units that can be cut off relatively easily are the ones at (91,23) and (92,27). Try this tactic hotseat a few times and you might like it.

No combat takes place. The only Allied forces I see are garrison troops in the Maginot Line. Rapidly deploying west.

War on Holland.

Norway and Wolfpack

Turn 6
War is declared on Norway followed by landings, a mass air attack and naval bombardment. The capital city is cleared but will have to wait next turn to enter the city.
It was either Norway or Yugoslavia, when PanzerGeneral pulled his battleships from the North Sea I decided on Norway.
The first wolfpack mauls a Allied Convoy.

Bismarck in Action

Turn 7
Germans move into Oslo and Norway surrenders. I was hoping my German Battleship would be able to escape but my friend had a Battleship in reach to trap him.
A Hard hitting Bismarck salvo followed up by air force attack sink the trapping Battleship. There is another Allied Battleship closing that should be able to trap my Battleship in again next turn if he risks losing another Battleship.
Infantry reduce the Hague defenders to 3 steps.

Turn 10
The entire airforce bombs Belgium capital and then the Army moves in to capture. Belgium surrenders.
I thought of waiting here but thought to flank the river. I wanted to avoid attacking across the river and giving him that defensive river bonus so I pushed through the land gap to clear the bank. (see arrows)
My forward tank looks dangerously exposed to counter attack and large step loss though.

Costly River Crossing

Turn 11
Lorraine is captured.
Looking at the map here you can see my motorised corp at five steps.
Why?!
Why?!
Why?!
1. The airforce had to redeploy forward this turn. No air support except one tactical bomber.
2. The defender (a corp) had 3 bonuses. River Crossing, Forest and Entrenchment.
3. I wanted to destroy that Corp this turn.
4. I did not want to injure my tanks.
It was destroyed but was expensive.

France Falls-Strategic Dilema

Turn 17
France Falls. Not early enough but not so late too complain. A U boat and Allied destroyer trade blows in the Atlantic. Three step losses to each side. Seems my friend became wise to me and his high value North Atlantic convoy route.
Now is the Strategic Dilema. What to do next?
Sealion? Maybe. I don´t know. What is certain is between here and Russia I need more production points. Spain is tempting, it has a lot of points. I could take it. It would be hard to defend though. France will be hard enough to defend in a year and a half minus the entire coast of Spain too.
But Spain is a possibility.
A strong Push into the Middle East. Grab the oil, grab the canal. Free the Italian fleet. All this would take some time and have to be ongoing with Barbarossa. I´m going to need the oil really so I will have to look this over well.
Canal, Middle East for Oil. Possibility.
What really looks attractive is an invasion of Sweden. It has good points. I can get there easy, he can´t. I already have some troops in Norway. It would be very hard for his Navy to get there with my airpower. I´m not sure if his airforce would even be able to reach. Also, Sweden would be very easy to defend.
And besides all those reasons....
