Dismounting - Questions

A short question with a short answer?
A dismounted unit is the same cost as the mounted version?
Slightly longer question:
Pg. 143 says you keep weapon/abilities - this includes drill and/or shock status?
And finally:
I've recently bought a Mongol army with some heavy and medium foot. The medium foot is on double depth bases. I had planned to use the Mongol Invasion list from OoF, but is there one which better matches the figures [i.e has some infantry]?

Yes

Neither both.
You keep your drill/undrill
Often you change but not alway and it is unit specific and you need to check army list notes.
Bow/sword tend to remain
Knights often become heavy weapon
Lancer cav often become offenseive spear.

It rather depends on what the infantry are. The likeliest bet is the Yuan list from Empires of the Dragon.

If you dismount bow armed cavalry are they still treated as mounted bow for the shooting range or do they use the ranges for foot bow?

They use ranges for foot bow - mounted dismount as foot (page 147) and therefore then behave in all respects as the foot of that type during the game.
1. Behaving otherwise would make life too complex remembering which had dismounted
2. I assume bow ranges are to do with stability of platform

Just wondering why use foot with a Mongol army?
Their best weapon is their movement of their Cavalry/LH
Or have I missed something.

dismounting is situational, medium foot can be used to clear terrain areas for example

The Mongols can dismount at the deployment without the need for your opponent to have War Wagons. So it depends on the situation if you luck out with the terrain or some other reason. It is option you can have and offers some flexibility, I have not tried it yet and when i try it may go ugly on me but nice to have the option if you think there is an advantage in it.
Generally you are right the Mongol's advantage is their speed and maneuverability.
