Field of Glory 2 Does Not Open Field of Glory Empires after Imported Battle.

To be clear, starting from Empires, I can click "Export Battle", the game closes, FoG2 opens, I can load the battle and play it, but when I click to close FoG2 and load the results into Empires, Empires doesn't open. The results are saved though, since if I manually open Empires, I can import the battle results. However, it's annoying to have to manually restart Empires every time.
Both games were purchased from GOG, both are on the same drive. I'm using Windows 10.
Any ideas why this may be happening?
