Attack! 2025 at Devizes - 19th and 20th july 2025

The theme for Attack! 2025 is Italian Wars of 1521-26 (Four Years War) and War of the League of Cognac (1526-30) – Fought in Italy, France, Spain and the Netherlands

Venue: Devizes School, The Green, Devizes, Wiltshire SN10 3AG
Rules: - FOGR with all amendments publish at that time plus those shown below.
Scale: - 15mm
Points: - 820 points plus the value of the cheapest base cost.

Format – Singles competition with 4 x 3 hour 15 minute games
Armies: -
• Italian Wars French
• Italian Wars Venetian
• Caroline Imperialist
• Early Henrician English
• Papal States
• Florence
• Milan
• German States

Competition specific rules:-
Foot
Foot, other than light foot, must pass a CMT to enter or move within the 12” flank zones

Mounted
Cavalry if they pass a CMT, can either move 2MU and turn 180, or turn 180 and move 2MU, as well as turn 180, move 2MU and turn 180.

Artillery
Any unlimbered heavy or medium artillery must be in the first BG's to be deployed

Thanks Bob for organising an enjoyable weekend gaming. Congrats to Tom (1st) and Ray (2nd)!

I have noted the provisional dates for Attack! 2026 (18-19 July) on the assumption that we will be able garner enough players to mount a FOG-R tournament.

I reiterate some of the feedback for next time shared verbally at the close:

Shorten the game time from 3.25 hrs to 3hrs or even 2.45hrs so that there is less rush for set-up and take-down and not enough time to visit other competitors, traders or participation games.

Do this by keeping the 6 x 4 tables, but reducing the points (Tom suggested 750).

See if it is possible to pick a theme where there could be more diversity of armies (not sure what mechanism could be reasonably used to make that a reality!).
