Can somebody explain to me what mountain troops are actually for? Still haven't been able to figure it out. They also lose efficiency while entering mountains (while marines don't, which doesn't make sense to me). They also can't move faster across mountain terrain than other infantry.

So what are they good for?

The primary advantage is movement. Mountain troops get more movement points through mountains, forest and most snowy terrain.
