P&S Campaigns - Editor unable to load any new scenarios

Hi,
For some inexplicable reason I'm unable to load or save a new scenario in Pike & Shot Campaigns
Editor.
What I've been trying to do is modify one of the existing "downloaded scenarios* like Cropredy Bridge
and alter the dispositions of the opposing units whether they be infantry, cavalry or artillery in
the English Civil War scenario; to different parts of the map while keeping the number of
units on each side, the same.

To save my new scenario I pressed "the wheel button" to Load / Save a scenario or Create a
New Campaign in Editor.

The very first time I did it - it all worked fine and the new scenario ( with a different name ) was ready
to play - namely it was available to Load & play the new scenario - but I found the dispositions of
my first modification of Cropredy Bridge unsatisfactory.
So I edited the Cropredy Bridge scenario again to create a better new scenario where the new
dispositions of the Royalist and Parliamentarian units are more to my liking.

Here I found that the 2nd modified Cropredy Bridge scenario was unavailable in Load & play
even though - when I go back into editor, it is available as an editable scenario. The same is
true when making a third attempt to create a modified Cropredy Bridge scenario; where again
it seems to save in Editor ( although I never get any confirmation message from Editor when
I save it !! ) but doesn't appear in "Load & play".
In campaign CROPREDY2 in SCENARIOS folder it has the 2 newly created .BAM scenarios namely
CROPREDY phase3.BAM and CROPREDY phase4.BAM as well as the normal CROPREDY2.BAM
that came with the original scenario but "Load & play" doesn't display CROPREDY phase3.BAM
or CROPREDY phase4.BAM at all !!

The funny thing is I cannot find any trace of the very first modified scenario CROPREDY phase2.BAM
in the CROPREDY2 - SCENARIOS folder even though it must have been successfully saved
and created for it to appear as one of my playable saved scenarios in "Load & play".

Therefore the only practical "work around" for now is to rename the CROPREDY phase3.BAM
or CROPREDY phase3.BAM as CROPREDY2.BAM to try out my new scenarios.

Although obviously I need to know where I'm going wrong in the first place, to successfully
load and save a new scenario from an existing scenario using P & S Campaigns Editor.
Unless Editor has a problem where your only allowed to edit or modify an existing scenario
once but not 2 or more times unless you delete any previous modified scenarios first ??

I tried asking support@slitherine.co.uk first only for them to reply that's it best I post my
question to the Pike and Shot Campaigns forum to find the best solution.

There is no such restriction.

But I am struggling to see what the cause of your problem might be.

Will ask Pip if he has any idea.

Is it possible that the campaign is set to be a carryover one? That would make it harder to go directly to any additional scenarios - IIRC.

Check for a CAMPAIGN.TXT file inside the folder for your new campaign. You should also check that the folder name is different (though I imagine that would be pretty obvious).

Cheers

Hi Pip,
Not sure what you mean by "is campaign set to be a carryover one? and whenever I save a modified scenario of
CROPREDY2 it always saves the NEWCROPREDY.BAM file in the SCENARIOS folder of CROPREDY2 campaign but
without it appearing as an executable scenario in Load/Save.
I still wonder why I never get a message or any sort of response from P&S Campaigns ? when saving an edited
scenario ( unless P&S Campaigns never had a "save successful" ) popup window ??
Maybe I have to be in a certain mode in Editor ( eg deploy mode ? ) before saving it ???

I even tried installing the P&S Campaigns game from scratch on my recently bought Dell Laptop - always making
sure that access to my One Drive is switched off before installing it - as P&S has a habit of creating the MY Games then PSCAMP folder on the One Drive ( as a sub folder of Documents ) when I'd rather have it on my C:\ drive.

Anyway the same problem of being unable to create a new scenario using Cropredy2 as the modified scenario is still
the same even on my new windows 11 Laptop. Although all my Laptops are Windows 11.
The only other thing I can think of is that Editor is only saving the modified scenario as a "work in progress" so
that I can continue modifying it later - in which case how do I save it as a completed ( all work is done scenario )
version, to save it as a new campaign ??

Is this the Single Player Cropredy Bridge by Warlord156?

You need to edit the CAMPAIGN.TXT to show the new scenario names. If it still just shows the original scenario:

[Cropredy2]

That is all that can be played. You would have to add the names of the new scenarios below [Cropredy2], so that it looks like this:

[Cropredy2]
[CROPREDY phase3]
[CROPREDY phase4]

Then when you select Cropedy2 in the Historical Battles Selection Screen the right hand arrow will be highlighted, and you can click on it to access the new scenarios.

Adding the new names in CAMPAIGN.TXT has no effect, it only recognises Cropredy2 when running the scenario - with
the edited scenario's, namely CROPREDY phase3 & CROPREDY phase4 still not appearing amongst the Load / Save
scenarios.

At the end of the day I'm not bothered if we find a solution or not - as "the workaround" of renaming the
edited scenarios of CROPREDY phase2.BAM or CROPREDY phase3.BAM as CROPREDY2.BAM ( and keeping the
master copy of CROPREDY2.BAM in a backup folder ) works fine for now.

If you ever do want to get to the bottom of it, just pm me a link to your scenario folder, so that I can see exactly what you have done wrong.
