Here I was reading through this and thinking it is a nice British campaign that might add a few Italian units to a potential full Afrika Corps DLC in the far future and then I noticed this little part:

That's really interesting and potentially great news. Seems that Panzer Corps 2 does a lot of on new things often and still has a lot it can surprise with. I honestly never imagined we'd live to see an Italian campaign, and certainly not yet at this stage. Now it's just a case of adding a few new units on both sides, making sure the campaigns are long enough to have the player see meaningful progress of his forces and add some good narrative and maps to bind it all together, improving on all lessons learned with Bulge.
Fingers crossed, I am looking forward to it, especially since it happens at the stage of the unit tree for all nations where the differences in stats are not yet so huge, making the experience more balanced in theory.

Yeah - great news. Tutti Ragazzi Italiani Bambini!
I agree. Something completely new in the world of Panzer Corps 2 when we get a campaign playable from both sides.
This reminds somehow of the British North African campaign from Allied General.
New units are always welcome. I didn`t see any list of possible scenarios - is there anything announced?
Looking forward to it.

Another disconnected campaign (3rd). Another most likely skip.

Yes, disconnected campaigns in a period of what, 1 year, when you have nothing to upgrade and manage is like 10% of this game. I dont get these strategy.

In theory, I also should not like this approach, as for me upgrading and personalizing the core force is a sloid 30% of the enjoyment form this game, if not more. However, I still had a lot of fun in DLC like Fall of Poland for example, where you are really not given much to change the composition of your force. In the end, it mattered less than I was concerned it would. There is still a lot of options to change things with traits, heroes, gift units, or simply what was done in Bulge - slowly "unlocking" availability of certain unit types. It won't work for everyone, but there are things that a more isolated design can help bring out.

Nothing was told to us beta testers one way or the other, but I still firmly believe that this North African DLC might have a continuation DLC in the future.

Continuation to what?
After Poland there could have been another DLC in Denmark, Norway, maybe some speciel Operations, finally ending in the low countries. So I think the new strategy is stand alone DLCs. Which is fine, but not for everyone. I wont buy stuff and hope for something in the future that is very unlikely imo.

The continuation of the North African campaign, of course! The next logical phase would be the arrival of the Afrika Korps. Combine your core from this DLC with new German units. Or alternatively, you continue the struggle against German-Italian army with the British.

That would be a nice thing to see. Not sure what the plans are for potentially ever going AO West route similar to Grand Campaign, but Africa could still be handled separately or even run parallel AO campaign and Frontlines series, there's for sure room for this in available battles and options. Logically, there's nothing really preventing a core force import from any Frontlines campaign into a next one. Even earlier Bulge could have a follow up, even if sure to the date it does not leave that much room for additional campaigns. If Cyrenaica is ever followed up by another African Frontlines rele4ase and it offers a core force import that would be an amazing thing.

Afrika Korps in PzC 1 even had specific achievements for not buying German units.
I like this concept - if there's already a "first" in the form of an Italian campaign next to a British one, then if this ever gets continued, it would make sense to give the player the freedom of potentially having access to German/American support for both sides respectively, but not having to rely on it if they are up for a challenge.

It would be much easier to play with only Italian units here than it was in Panzer General 2 or Panzer Corps 1. In those games, all nations' infantry have different stats whereas now most infantry are basically all cookie cutter the same. So really it is only other equipment (planes, tanks, etc.) that differentiates one nations' units from the other, and even then some of those units are set to match others (artillery).

Yeah sure, was more like a rethorical question

I mean, if they plan to make a longer campaign, that would be the first thing I tell the community.
Why hiding one of the most important features of the game?

Yeah, I wondered the same. My best guess is because they want to first see how sales are for the "first" installment before investing into producing a follow-up. I sense that overall the first 2 (Bulge and Poland) got a mixed reception and I don't know how well they sold. But I am not privy to any internal data to know if any of what I said above is true or even close.

I don't really see how interesting a follow-up DLC for Battle of Bulge would work. Obviously there was still months of fighting following it, but how interesting were those battles? Liberation of concentration camps? IDK.
Poland I could see as the beginning of a "Free Polish/French/etc." core. With some imagination it could be done, be a bit tricky to design, but at the same time definitely unique approach to this series.
However, North Africa is the most straight-forward and obvious. But, we'll see.
