Boston, MA (USA) Historical FOG Tournament - Sept. 12, 2009
Posted: Sun Jul 26, 2009 1:44 pm
There will be a historical round-robin Fields of Glory tournament at the Hobby Bunker in Malden, Mass. on September 12, 2009. The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. and consist of three rounds.
The tournament will have a slightly unusual format. All armies (650 pts) will be provided, and will be paired in a series of historical matches. Players will rotate from table to table, and dice against each opponent to determine which of the paired armies they will play. This is a test of generalship, not army design. As of now, the pairings will be:
1. Neo-Assyrian v. Babylonian
2. Alexandrian Macedonian v. Later Achaemenid Persian
3. Either Spartan v. Theban or Ptolemaic v. Seleucid
4. Later Carthaginian v. Mid-Republican Roman
5. Principate Roman v. Ancient British
6. Early Byzantine v. Sassanid
7. Later Crusader v. Ayyubid Egyptian
8. HYW English v. HYW French
Additional pairings can be added in case of increased demand.
There will be three rounds, scheduled as follows:
10:00 AM - 1:30 PM Round 1
2:00 PM - 5:15 PM Round 2
5:45 PM - 9:00 PM Round 3
Note that Round 1 is intentionally longer to account for initial confusion.
Direction to the Hobby Bunker are available at http://www.hobbybunker.com/contact/directions.cfm
Due to the need to have sufficient army pairings available, please RSVP to Matt Iverson at iverson.jm@verizon.net. I can also arrange for overnight accomodations upon request.
Hope to see you there.
