Can you use Hannibal in Africa in the Later Carthaginian army list as he is limited to Average or Poor Elephants and yiu could take Superior Elephants by not taking Hannibal?

Later Carthaginian can be in Spain, Africa or Sicily, NOT Italy as it can only have 2 elephants.

Spain and Sicily can have all versions of elephants. In Africa only average and poor are available.

I believe the wording around Hannibal in Italy is wrong and Italian armies cannot have more than 2 elephants

So you can take Hannibal in Africa in 202 BC with Average or Poor Elephants, even though the Later Carthaginians could have Superior Elephants in 202 BC if they do not use Hannibal?

Runners and Riders

Peter Card (Oxford) Later Carthaginian
David Fairhurst (Oxford) Classical Indian
Lynda Fairhurst (Oxford) Medieval Malay

Andy Kitcher (Oxford) Later Carthaginian

Ian Carbutt (Rest of the World) Seleucid
Graham Roberts (Rest of the World) Medieval Malay
Terry Shaw (Rest of the World) Seleucid

Remember that Later Carthaginian and Seleucid armies have no Commanders depicted as Elephants, if you see one call pest control.

I have volunteered for the Saturday morning bye, leaving four Oxford players to face four players from the Rest of the World.

Steve Murton has pointed out on Facebook that the published score does not add up for David at Beachhead and a quick check shows that Martyn and Lynda have the wrong scores as well. I apologise as I helped with the counting and gave David the extra ten points. On the plus side it would not have changed the last round draw.

Fortunately, yesterday was my last day on meds so I should be able to add up correctly soon.

Phil

Player and Army Rd1 Rd2 Rd3 Rd4 Total
Terry Shaw Seleucid 28 32 27 33 120
Martyn Simpson Seleucid 35 14 16 32 97 (not 94)
Phil Jelley Later Carthaginian 28 14 04 30 76
David Fairhurst Classical Indian 14 20 33 06 73 (not 83)
Lynda Fairhurst Medieval Malay 16 08 33 10 67 (not 69)
Graham Roberts Medieval Malay 07 11 28 20 66
Andy Kitcher Later Carthaginian 14 14 33 04 65
Ian Carbutt Seleucid 17 06 04 28 55
Peter Card Later Carthaginian 00 28 04 14 46

Hi everyone,

I have rechecked my spreadsheet and it seems there is a deeper issue. The 'original' posted scores above are correct.

Why?

Well, on the paperwork, at the end of round 3, Phil J did an interim running total on all the scores (which unfortunately I didn't double check). This gave David 10 more points than he actually had won (77pts and not David's actual score of 67pts) at the end of round 3. Meaning, when I added in the final round score of 6 to David he became third place with 83 points (77points + 6points). David's true score, to be accurate, should have been 73 points. Whilst Phil scored 76 points overall.

So the final standings should have been as per my first post with Phil third. See below.

Final Standings
Player and Army.................................................R1 R2 R3 R4 Total
Terry Shaw (Rest of the World) Seleucid................... 28 32 27 33 120
Martyn Simpson (Rest of the World) Seleucid............. 35 14 16 32 97
Phil Jelley (Oxford) Later Carthaginian.................... 28 14 04 30 76
David Fairhurst (Oxford) Classical Indian.................. 14 20 33 06 73
Lynda Fairhurst (Oxford) Medieval Malay.................. 16 08 33 10 67
Graham Roberts (Rest of the World) Medieval Malay..... 07 11 28 20 66
Andy Kitcher (Oxford) Later Carthaginian................. 14 14 33 04 65
Ian Carbutt (Rest of the World) Seleucid................... 17 06 04 28 55
Peter Card (Oxford) Later Carthaginian.................... 00 28 04 14 46

I'm really sorry not to have spotted this at the time. I think I'll leave it to a higher authority as to what to do about the trophy.
