Losing general in battle

I lost general in battle where I had 46 units and enemy did have 4.
This even happened before turn 10 similar situation.
It is big loss when playing byzantine because that means one governor less and demesne size (for authority gain) limit will be lowered and player is forced to sell or give regions.

There apparently is a bug in 1.00 that you have greater chance dying in small battles, fixed in 1.01.

While the bug fix will be helpful, the bottom line is that if you commit a leader to battle there's a chance he dies. So you have choices here. Leaving the force leaderless is a solid option in a case of overwhelming superiority like you describe above. Avoid using a character that is more valuable as a governor...or use the governor knowing that there is a distinct risk of a stray arrow taking him out, especially if you have another governor to fill in.

War is always a risk, generals die along with the soldiers. Look how many rulers died historically during this period...

Yeah, armies led by rulers should get a slight combat bonus as the vassals fought better when their lord was there so see.

You double Authority gain or loss. It's not a bonus in-battle though.

Generals tend to die rather regularly in FOGM too so it is always a risk to send them into combat.
