When I enter diplomacy with any other nation, The option to declare war never appears. This is true for every other nation, not just those who are vassels

The top option that appears is always to ask the nation to declare war on someone else, but there is no option to declare war on the nation I am interacting with.

This came out of nowhere, not just in my current game as Scotland in the main campaign, but in old save games when I was playing a different nation.

I did not have this problem during the day, it just appeared out of nowhere when I returned to the game at night. I did not change any options or keyboard mapping.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Now, I am able to get the proper diplomatic choices when I go to diplomacy, but only in the old save games. In my Scotland game, I still never get the option to declare war on anyone.

My ruler has a trait that allows him to declare war at only half the usual athority cost, and to attack the very same turn he declares war, and may be it is something about this trait that disables the ability to declare war in the diplomatic choices. Just a guess.

And it is because of that trait that I have a large army in my capital, with a good leader, to protect him from coups. I will disband that army and hope for a coup, or something, as this inablity to wage war is allowing Wales to expand against the only surviving Anglo Saxon kingdom, and they are getting powerful..

Have you checked that you are not a vassal? I've made the mistake of vassalising myself at the end of a war when I thought i was negotiating the other way round.

That is it! I made myself a vassel to a tiny one area ally. The only bug was my hitting the wrong button!

Thank you Squamy. You saved what had been a great game. Now it is time to teach the Welsh who really owns Britain.

That said, I will be very careful from now on not to do that again.
