Troops lent by vassal charge maintenance on the lord

In my Castile game, once my vassals start lending me troops, I suffer a huge deficit in money and manpower reserve. I assume that this is not intended.

It is intended as you pay the upkeep for lent troops.
Change foreign policy to "PARTIAL CALL, ALWAYS" to stop vassals sending troops. For those you already have but can't afford disband them.

In addition to what Squamry just posted, I will add that you only pay 1/2 the normal maintenance price for a vassal's troops that are under your control. So they can help augment your army a bit more economically, and as previously posted you can safely disband any unwanted vassal troops to help conserve resources.
