Hi All,
Ok if you are into 25/28mm FOG then I am going to run a one day competition on Sunday 15th November 2009 650 point armies table size 6ft by 4ft at the East Manchester Historical Games Society (EMHGS) Club house is at Scout Building, Knivton Street, Godley, Hyde, SK14 2PU, a map is on the web site at
www.emhg.wetpaint.com put your name down if you are up for this, also if you have not got a 25/28mm FOG army we will have 2 or 3 armies going spare on the day.
May the dice gods be with me on this day

Hi All,
As with all 25/28mm competition it will be an open competition so that players with only one army can participate in the competition.
Game one will be by book or books if poss.
Then Swiss chess system, the player with the highest score V second highest score player and so on.

I've not tried FOG in 25mm but I have some (very old) figures and this would be a great excuse to sort them out.
One thing that comes to mind though is that using 1" as a MU with 25mm would give some strange effects. So what do people normally use as a MU and what are you using for this competition?

The normal MU for 25mm games is 1" and doesn't seem to cause any major issues. It takes a little while to get used to the distances compared to the height of the figures but most things are about the same as they were in DBM with 40mm = 50 paces anyway. You can play 25mm with a 40mm MU but if you do so it really needs a deeper table if skirmishing armies are to have any chance at all.
Using the same movement distances for 15mm and 25mm was a deliberate choice by the designers to try to keep the two scales more alike in the way they played rather than the DBM situation where 15mm and 25mm were almost totally different games at least in feel.

Thanks Hammy, I wasn't so much thinking of the height/move relationship (and I won't get drawn into a discussion about whether skirmishing armies should be given any chance

). What I thought might cause some odd effects is the relationship between the moves and the size of bases, such as how nuch forther you have to move to get past someone or how much you move in an expansion. But as I said it's more curiosity having never tried it.

As far as I am aware the only significant issue that has appeared in 25mm games with 1 MU = 1" is fitting a pike formation infront of the camp which I think can't be done (4 ranks of pike = 80mm, camp = 160mm)

Hi All,
We will be using 1 Mu = 1" as we will be using 6ft by 4ft tables only for this 25/28mm one day competition

If you went to 600 points and 40mm MUs you might manage to get three 2 1/2 hour games in a day
