Been here long enough to know it is called Slitherine Group, but the Matrix Gamers think THEY are the ones helping Slitherine :)

But sometimes strength in numbers is a thing, and sometimes it means you are not special.
I like the majority of the catalogue of Slitherine Group, but there ARE other developers out there doing a great job at the wargame making business.

WDS Wargame Design Studio has gone and kept John Tiller's legacy alive, and they make some of the best in traditional wargames. They are second to no one.

There are more than a few names out there doing great work I know of. But it isn't easy.
Wargaming is a niche of a niche inside a hobby that is not as mainstream as it like to think.

Put every last wargamer in one place, and you can't even get close to just an ordinary comic or anime convention :)
And even they are fringe.
