Grand Campaign West questions

Hello,

I have decided to play the Grand Campaign once again but this time I will switch to the Western front after I have finished the Grand Campaign 41.

My questions are:

1. How many units from my core force can I take with me, after I have decided to switch the front lines? I think that I have read somewhere that you can take 10 or 12 units from your core force, is this correct?

2. Can I take my Elite Units (Rudel!) to the Grand Campaign West?

3. Is it correct that you can get your first elite tank in the Oslo Scenario of the Grand Campaign 39 ?

best regards

1) Eight core units + SE
2) Yes, you pick the units, so you may pick all special heroes.

1/ In GC42/43 West first scenario St Nazaire you can deploy 9 units from your previous GC 41 Core, plus any SE units you have. You can verify this by selecting start a grand campaign and pick 42/43 west.

2/ Any units you select keep all of its heroes including special heroes.

3/ Starting from GC 39 Oslo you are eligible for SE Tanks, that doesn't mean you'll receive it automatically.
The gain of SE units is random once a SE slot become available it can take several scenarios before you actually receive the SE unit. That being said it is up to you to reload the previous save to get the desired SE unit. You can also disband (left ALT+'D') previous SE units to free SE slot to get more Panzer. But you'll only get at max one SE per scenario.

Also, after you start the first scenario, St Nazaire, you lose all of your prestige, so you may as well spend as much as you can before you lose it. However, bear in mind that if you over strength everything the soft cap cap will come into play... that's the mistake I made.

It might not be all your prestige that you lose, but it's certainly most of it. At the star of the scenario, you are informed of all these conditions. Have fun!

You loose all prestige but 2000pp (modified by difficulty settings) at the start of St Nazaire turn 2.
Soft Cap is an issue but bear in mind that you will receive a lot of new core units for free in the early 42/43 scenario. Check the complete captured units database:

Soft Cap is adapted dynamically as you receive free units during a scenario.

In practice I prefer to stuff my 42/43 West core with as much expensive units as I can, it impacts the Soft Cap but obviously I have stronger units to play the scenarios. And that is as many units I won't have to pay for later. Moreover I disband many of the weakest free units received to get extra prestige.
