I prefer "epic battles" because its vitually "straight in" from move 1.
The other battles- the opposing armies are -in my opinion- spaced too far apart- takes absolutely ages until
"contact" is made ("yawn") and allows opponents to re-deploy and re-adjust whch would not have been possible in real life.

You can set up matches with 'shorter' maps to reduce maneuver time if you wish. Open the advanced options at setup and reduce 'height'
