greetings. i just bought a new dell desktop, and i was forced to get vista 64-bit home premium preinstalled. i see that people with vista are having problems playing this game. are these issues being addressed? is there any chance of a legion arena patch to help solve (other) vista problems? i would like to order the game, but i want to make sure that i can play it. i have had a bad experience with a game entitled praetorians. the game works fine, but the patch does not like vista. i cannot see why older games are still offered if they will not accept vista. why are the game makers not adapting them to vista? it makes no sense to me.

Get Great Batles of Rome instead - it is an upgraded version and should be fine on your machine.

All of our games run on Vista if you apply the patches. The problem is Vista is missing a crucuial file for older games to run - don't ask me why!

Dont forget game development is very expensive so some developers cannot affird to upgrade every time a new updates gets released. I think the real question should be why does a new OS require updated software - why is not backwards compatible?!

I agree with you there Ian and I can understand why you cannot keep supporting it. even though it is a shame.
Legion is pretty much the only game in your strategy games I haven't played, but having the DS game of Great Empires kinda makes up for it :)

Imho, Legion Arena is better. The only thing i miss is the ambush that came with Great Battles of Rome. The videos are much much better in Legion Arena though (don't like the Hollywood movies used in GboR). Can't you use compatibity mod on the patch? Btw, there was a "Gold" edition which included all the changes and the addon...great game.

Cheers
