I'd be doing even better if my Superior Legion led by the IC was capable of surviving 2 rounds of shooting without going fragged. Or if troops fleeing off table counted as full losses.

And I'm sure your opponents had no complaints about bad dice or rules they dislike? Sunday you will be holding the trophy and logging in w/ a 6-game report full of bad luck and bad game design!
