Can German tanks fire more than once?

No, units can only fire once per turn.
A double attack Hero allows a second fire round.
If attacked a unit can fire back once per attack, until out of ammo.

Overruning/Steamrolling enemies would allow a tank (all tanks - not only german ones) to attack again.
