Elo rankings and map rerolls

We are currently discussing how to implement allowing map rerolls by ignoring early concessions (for Elo ranking purposes) in tournaments that allow map rerolls.

(I am not sure this discounting concessions before turn 3 thing ever in fact existed in the beta. There was no code to make it so.)

Presumably map re-rolls can only occur on each player's first turn?

If so we would only need to discount concessions on each player's first turn.

Tell me if I am wrong.

----------------

However, that leaves the issue of immediate concession in MP games which have not been agreed to allow re-rolls. Surely they should be Elo scored as normally, otherwise a player can simply concede with no penalty if he does not like the look of the map.

So we would need to put a check box in the UI for "allow map rerolls" to be checked (or not) when the challenge is created.

Comments?

Ideally with a map issue a game would be conceded on turn one.

In practice I believe that players make a return to the multiplayer lobby with comment using the in game chat.
I would suggest discount games conceded on or before turn two or turn three.

My preference, based upon little except caution, would be discount games conceded on or before player turn 3.

I also feel that at turn three I would not yet be so invested as to be irritated if the facility was to be misused by an opponent.

I think a check box "allow map reroll" when creating the challenge would be a good idea and I think it should be possible on the first two to three turns for each player. Sure, in theory people can see the map on turn 1 and know if they want to play it, but sometimes they might also want to consult with their opponents first. There is also the chance that the map is half decent, but the opponent deploys in such a way that it would just be draw, so people might want to call the map reroll in that occasion.

Alternitivly/ additionally I think it would be great to have a option in ranked games to simply offer your opponent a draw at any point of the battle. The opponent would than recieve a message at the start of his next turn to either accept or refuse the draw and - depending on that decision - the battle would either continue as normal or end without it having any impact on ELO. This would give players a way to do map rerolls in ranked tournaments, but also account for situations in which after a few turns both players are unwilling to engage and/or similar things.
