Slitherine is pleased to announce that it is now recruiting Beta testers for Field of Glory, its upcoming PC wargame based on the best selling Field of Glory miniatures rules. Field of Glory is a turn based wargame set in the ancient world, giving players control over the armies of republican Rome and her enemies. The beta testing will be starting later this month and is open to anyone with a PC and a desire to play addictive wargames!

To join the beta test go to http://www.slitherine.com/beta_test/

About Field of Glory
Field of Glory is a wargame system for PC that covers the ancient and medieval worlds. The initial release is set during the Rise of Rome from Zama in North Africa to the battles of Boudicca’s revolt in Britain. Later releases will expand to new periods and new areas of the ancient and medieval world. Based on the popular Field of Glory tabletop wargaming system from Slitherine (www.fieldofglory.com), the PC version is designed from the ground up to be a good game rather than a port of the tabletop system.

Features
• Gameplay that allows key decisions to decide the results of historical battles
• Detailed and accurate depiction of ancient warfare (combat mechanics, leaders, morale, real uniforms)
• 12 historical battles with hundreds of units to control
• Play as Rome, Carthage, Gaul, Germanic Tribes and the Spartacus Slave Revolt and even the Roman civil war
• Single and 2 player head to head modes
• Comprehensive scenario builder included

Umm in the info section of this game it has an August 2009 release date. Is that factual? Do you have a projected Price?

Questions it didn't answer:

Does it have a random battle or random campaign generator?

Does it have a buy units by amount of points allocated skirmish/Quick Battle mode like Combat Mission or Steel Panthers or Panzer Command;Kharkov?

Please don't tell us it's only going to have canned scenarios only or player made ones only?

Can hexes or squares be turned on an off like a grid overlay?

How many difficulty levels will the game have? What do they actually do as far as difficulty?

Is the AI really going to be challenging or is it just going to be beefed up with more resources etc by the difficuly setting?

What is the maximum size of the map(s)?

How many different terrain features are there? How will they effect battles? Ridges? Forests? River crossings? Bridges? Mud ? Rain? High Temperatures? Snow?

No campaign game overlaying the tactical battles I take it? Like a Spartan or Troy?

>>> Always hard to say but probably a bit mbitious so maybe September. Price also TBD.

Questions it didn't answer:

>>> It has a map editor, not a random generator. It doesn't make sense for this really.

Does it have a buy units by amount of points allocated skirmish/Quick Battle mode like Combat Mission or Steel Panthers or Panzer Command;Kharkov?
>>> See above

Please don't tell us it's only going to have canned scenarios only or player made ones only?
>>> The map editor means thee will quickly be a large number of maps available so I don't see the issue here. Plenty of hurs of gameplay.

Can hexes or squares be turned on an off like a grid overlay?
>>> Yes

How many difficulty levels will the game have? What do they actually do as far as difficulty?
>>> TBD

Is the AI really going to be challenging or is it just going to be beefed up with more resources etc by the difficuly setting?
>>> We think its going to be fine.

What is the maximum size of the map(s)?
>>> TBD but large

How many different terrain features are there? How will they effect battles? Ridges? Forests? River crossings? Bridges? Mud ? Rain? High Temperatures? Snow?
>>> Lots. They effect movement & combat stats.

No campaign game overlaying the tactical battles I take it? Like a Spartan or Troy?
>>> No not initially
