Painting LRR auxillaries

I'm okay with colour schemes for my legionaries but I'm a little unsure about what colours to be painting my auxillaries. I have Gallic Cavalry, Numidian & Thracian LH, Illrian Foot, Numidian Slingers and Cretan Archers. Can anyone help with any of those?

The Numidians are easy, darkish skin, basic off-white clothes, same on shield or maybe cattle skin on shields.
The Cretans could be done with off-white clothes with some red or blue hems on a few.
don't know aobut illyrians.
Thracians and Gauls - take a look at the Foundry website and see how they painted theirs.

Or you could buy something like Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars which should have all of these.

Yes, an excellent book on this period by Duncan Head. Published by WRG. Not sure if it is currently in print.

"Armies and Enemies of Imperial Rome" by Barker and also out of print but readily available is a useful resouce, as are the Osprey books on the Spanish and Celts. I've used all for painting "the help" in my LRR army :D

The books are usually available 2nd hand via eBay or Amazon. They are sufficiently popular that I've set up a page to pull together the current eBay and Amazon listings on my site

Yes I think the Ospreys on Roman Military Clothing #3 is the one for these guys
great books
The one on Auxilary units in great too

My Gauls have some green and/or blue cloaks
My Spanish are mostly blue
I made Germans a darker blue/grey
I did my Thracian cav in a really dirty white so that I can tell them apart easily
My numidans are all darker skined that the rest and most sun bleached cloaks and tunics
