Kush and Nubians

The Romans attempted to conquer the Nubians and the Kingdom of Kush in 24 BC. But I don't see a Nubian army listed for them at this time.

Or am I missing something?

There isn't currently a list, but we are working on it for a future update.

In the meantime you could try "TT Mod": https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=113880

Thank you!

I will be looking forward to this update!

This is really welcome news. Hopefully not asking for too much, but if Ethiopia and western African states like Ghana and Mali could also be added alongside Nubia, they would make great historical adversaries for pre-Islamic Arabian kingdoms, Sassanids, Muslim Berber dynasties, Mamluks and others.

I hope to start a beta in the next couple of weeks. It will include Ethiopia (Axum) but not west Africa,

Will the Ethiopians and their predecessors be added to Medieval?

I don't have a Medieval Ethiopian list to work from, nor research materials to make one.

Here is what we have in the current Medieval open beta build:

• New Army Lists:
  • o Christian Nubian 1050-1174 AD
    o Christian Nubian 1175-1500 AD
• New Time Warp Army Lists:
  • o Meroitic 280 BC – 400 AD
    o Axumite 100-970 AD
    o Beja 250-849 AD
    o Beja 850-1049 AD
    o Blemmye 298-499 AD
    o Blemmye 500-550 AD
    o Nobatae 298-499 AD
    o Nobatae 500-550 AD
    o Christian Nubian 550-1049 AD
Obviously the Time Warp lists are also in the Ancients Open Beta build.

Paul Adaway has kindly given permission to use his units and textures from TT Mod.

Probably too late to ask, but would it be possible to add the Lutat Macemen from the mod into the Fatimid lists in Ancients & Medieval? They'd be fun to put up against all the armored units the Crusaders field.

It is too late for the first iteration of the beta, but I will look at putting them in a later iteration.

Much appreciated. Thanks to you and Paul for the new lists!

What is the minimum amount of evidence that you consider to be necessary to put together a list for Zagwe and the Solomonids? I assumed that many of the lists involved a fair amount of speculation. Wikipedia links to a few academic articles that I could try to obtain and summarize, if that would help.

I realize that one also needs models, but I would guess that between Aksum and Christian Nubia most troop types would be covered. What I've seen of Ethiopian illuminated manuscripts look fairly similar to Nubian church paintings, at least in terms of what would be visible at FoG's scale.

I suppose neither Zagwe nor the early Solomonids fought foes outside the Ethiopian region as Aksum did, so not many non-hypothetical historical match-ups.

If you can find enough evidence, we can probably add a list.

Any chance we'll have the banner textures from the TT mod in the base game?

Probably not, for various reasons.

That's truly unfortunate.
