How many heros?

I understand that the maxinum number of heros a unit can have is three.
Recently I saw a video on youtube where the player had four heros for a unit.
Have I missed something?

You missed a commander trait that allows you to have one more hero on a unit.

I still could not find out, how a single unit can have 4 heros

It’s a commander trait. I don’t remember what it’s called.
