Gentlemen,

time to choose your armies for round 4. The year is 1584.

Please either PM me or post on this thread.

There are no German list in Extra Nations for 1584, the only list I could fine anywhere is:
German States 1590 - 1609 in Tercio to Salvo.

An alternative would be Polish 1576 - 1610 in Extra Nations, at least it has a few Germans in it.

It is not great for 1614 or 1644 either, lots of German lists from 1649 onwards.

EDIT:
I take Swedish 1560-1603 from Tercio to Salvo [no army in Extra Nations avaiable]

Polish 1576-1610 for me.

Ottoman 1560-1609 for me.

When I compare this list to the Ottoman 1494-1559, it is identical. I suppose that the date change is just used to arrange historical opponents.

Spanish 1569 -1599 please.

Now there are so many different kinds of Tercios to choose from.

There are no Austrian, Imperial, Hungarian, or German lists for me to choose from in Extra Nations. So what am I to do?

The problem with using Tercio to Salvo is some of your opponents armies may not appear there, so I want to stick to extra nations 3 only. The intention is to use armies that have some (even if very slight) connection to the area ruled.

For Germany I will allow Spanish 1569-1599 as the Habsburgs controlled both during this era.

For Austria/Hungary I will allow Spanish 1569-1599 for the same reason, or alternately Transylvanian 1560-1599 as the Hungarians claim it to be part of Hungary.

The Vasa dynasty ruled Poland at the time, so maybe Poland? Or Germany because of Denmark's Schleswig-Holstein?
Should I stay in this Sweden from Tercio to Salvo?

In the absence of any list for James VI's army in 1584 (and too early to use his claim on the English throne in 1603), it looks like my Reivers are looking for fresh cattle rustling pastures... maybe we should try sheep this time!

OK, Spanish 1569-1599 for me then.

The English army in Extra Nations 3 seems to fizzle out in1583 although there is suitable Enlish army in Tercio to Salvo.

Gribol, I like your thinking, so Polish would work, I'll put you down for that as we have a number of Spanish pretending to be Germans and Frenchmen already

On that logic can I have a choice between Poland (because we ruled that in 1939) or Turkey (because we ruled their army in 1915) or England (because we rule it) or Austrian (because they are Germans) or Scandanavia (because they are nearly Germans) or Georgia (because they would like to be Germans).
