Add a unit of Military Order knights to the Crusader 1155-1291 AD list?

To represent the smaller military orders like the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, Order of Saint Lazarus etc. in Crusader states. Order of Saint Lazarus did participate in many battles in later stages like La Forbie(somewhat over 100 and none survived)as well as some battles in the Eighth Crusade.

And, is it possible to add another unit of Teutonic Knights to the list when the force size is been selected to large and very large? According to the records, they sent most of the knights in the military orders who participated in the battle of La Forbie. The records said the Teutonics sent 400(3 survived), Hospitallers sent 351(26 survived)and Templars sent 348(36 survived). The Teutonic Order was the third largest military order in the Crusader states(holding over 10 domains in Syria-Palastine and Cilicia-Armenia).

I will take a look at it, but it has missed the build for the forthcoming update.

Many thanks.

The problem is avoiding over-representing the total number of military order knights.

At La Forbie, if there were 1199 military order knights, out of a total of about 11,000 men, that represents just under 11% of the army.

The current army list already allows about 11% military order knights.

I could increase the number of Teutonic Knights units to 2 at 1200 points and 3 at 2000 points.

But I think that to avoid distorting the lists too much the lesser orders will need to be assumed to be included as part of the main military order units. (And we don't have textures for them anyway).

We can't always make the army lists fit the exact numbers at every single edge-case historical battle, without distorting the proportions in more usual battles. We can't reproduce the historical battlefield terrain in a Custom Battle anyway. Representing specific orders of battle and terrain are what Editor-created battles are for.

I think you could increase the number of Teutonic Knights to 2 at both 1200 and 2000 points and add a unit of military order knights while decreasing the maximum numbers of both Hospitallers and Templars by 1, to avoid over-representing the total number of military order knights in the Crusader States(at 11-12% too).

I think the textures of the Saint Lazarus etc. are not a big problem(you can temporarily use the Spanish military order knights' models)as the models of armored spearmen in the same period are still using the pavises(hope the future titles can go back to the P&S's styles to avoid such awkward problems, and it's also budget-wise, as the main reason is budget limits).

Note that these proposed changes did not make it into the v1.5.12 update, because the build had already been done. So it will need to wait for the next update, which will be sometime in the new year.

Understood, thanks for the hard work mister, and please check over the Kardakes' thread when you have time.
