POA Questions from Patch Notes

Hi all,

I hope this is the right place to ask this. I was reviewing the patch notes to updates my charts and am seeking clarification on the following two points.

1. "Pike basic POA is no longer dependent on having 3 full ranks of models. It remains 100 POA regardless of losses." (Medieval patch 1.4.6, also in Ancient)
a) Is this change in effect for both Impact and Melee phases?
b) Is this +100 POA bonus lost if the unit is fragmented, severely disordered, or charges mounted shock?

2. "Shooting POAs altered to give armour, especially heavy or full armour, more effect against non-gunpowder weapons. Altered values highlighted in chart below." (Medieval patch 1.3.5). The chart below makes ranged attacks less effective against mounted, armored targets. However, I do not see a similar entry in the Ancients patch notes. Was this change made only to Medieval and not to Ancients?

Thanks so much!

1a - yes
1b - yes, same as before, just that pikes have a base of 100poa instead of a base of 0, depending on casualties taken. But that 100 still doesn't apply in the situations you listed

2 - Not sure myself, though you could easily test it by comparing the shooting tooltips for jav/sling/bow against an identical armored cav unit in the two games

Thanks for your response and suggestion.

So, I had no experience with the editor, so I did some crash course learning. I learned the following:

1. Medieval Shooting POA's vs. mounted armour IS different than Ancients (i.e. the same changes were not made in both).

2. The pop-ups for shooting do not show "POA" modifiers as indicated in the rulebook. Instead, shooting vs. armor is expressed as a negative percentage. For example, the Medieval rulebook shows foot bow vs. armoured infantry as -150 whereas the pop-up shows this as -49%. (I actually prefer the -49% because it intuitively makes more sense to me that an attack is 49% less effective. I'm not even sure what -150 POA means on p. 130).

In any case, mystery solved. The shooting adjustments are different between the two games.
