More Editor Confusion...

So I go to make some changes to the 1944 Scenario. No problem. I do all the crazy moving directories around stuff that seems to be needed to get the Editor working, open the ww2.map, load up the 1944.scn file and make my changes.

Satisfied with the changes I've done, I shuffle around the directories once more, load up the install of the game I used for mods, select new game, click on the 1939 button and I'm presented with a load box. At first all looks good...tilll.....

It's asking me to choose which .data file I want to load. But hey, hang on, I was editing .scn files!?!?! Furthermore, it's asking me to choose a .data file from the users/ceaw/data directory, not the install directory of the game!?!?

Sure enough I reluctantly choose 1944.data and the game loads up using the original 1944 "scenario" with none of my changes incorporated.

So, what have I done wrong? How do you edit non-1939 scenarios (since I am able to edit those easily enough, since I don't have to click on the 1939 button and get presented with this request for .data files, it seems to load my altered scenario files happily).

You have to put the .scn u created where all the other scn files are, so that game can recognize it and compile it into a nice .dat file.

So if you installed into C:\Program Files\Slitherine\Commander - Europe At War

then the path should be C:\Program Files\Slitherine\Commander - Europe At War/data/scenario

if you are editing the fast play maps then of course the path will be C:\Program Files\Slitherine\Commander - Europe At War/data_fastplay/scenario

Next time you run game the new scenario will appear where the other .dat files are, if that did not work simply delete the CEAW folder in Documents/

I'll try this now. Thanks.

Thanks, that worked.

It seems I had to delete the old .data files in order for the changes to go through. Obviously the game doesn't re-compile them unless they're not there it seems.
