The first player sets up the battle;

If you lose the battle you become the vassal of your opponent and fight to help him enlarge his empire in future battles (there are no revolts in out mythical feudal world).
If its a draw you both retain your independence, for now.

We had a plan; Massed arquebus holding the wood on the right, 2,000 man pike blocks wearing down his 1,000 man pike blocks in the centre, all our light horse on the left to overwhelm his light horse and delay his elite knights, italian knights in reserve to hold up his left wing light horse and protect the rear of our pike.
His light foot arquebus destroyed our massed arquebus, his 1,000 man pike shattered our 2,000 man pike, his few light horse in desperation charged our light horse who either evaded and got run down or shattered on impact. His elite knights charged light horse threw long and caught them then pursued long and caught our knights who were manoeuvring.

Final result Italy lost 42% to Germany's 7% and has become a vassal of the Holy Roman Empire.

Well fought, my new fiercely loyal (and to be rewarded) vassal. I must admit, I didn't quite expect the charges of the tribal cavalry to be so effective.

A messy battle to be sure.

Portuguese in Morocco 1494 - 1519 (12% routed) defeated French 1494 (42% routed).

22,500 Portuguese (including Tribal light cavalry) took on 17,000 French (with a fair proportion of Swiss and German mercenaries). Whilst the extra troops were useful I think it was the extra units that swung it for the Portuguese, you get so many more 1,000 men keils. The French had four 2,000 men mercenary keils whereas the Portuguese had more than a dozen 1,000 men pike blocks.

Almost there Andre...it looks like gribol will take this one...it's been a long walk to the right flank and I've been out for 3 days...shouldn't be long now.

Those damn Scots are so tough. We had to use every unworthy of war tricks to defeat their schiltrons. However, it cost us a lot. Let's hope this isn't a pyrrhic victory!
