Prestige in basic game v. DLC

After doing several run throughs of the DLC (up through 1944) I thought I would go back and try basic game again.
It seems to me that the prestige award levels are different.
In the DLC, after a couple of battles I seldom have any prestige issues, even at generalissimo level.
Most of the time I am just swimming in it.
However, upon returning to basic game, aquiring enough prestuge is a struggle, even at the lower levels.
Is this just me, or did they change it at DLC?

prestige gain is set per scenario and is not fixed. the prestige in AO tends to be a lot more generous and u are way more likely to capture enemy units in SCW than in the basegames 39, which is a huge source of prestige.

The base game and the AOs have different design teams, with different philosophies.
The base game scenarios give Prestige per Turn, most AO scenarios do not.
If you finish early you get the the unplayed turn prestige [plus a declining bonus].
In PzC1 the GC DLCs had a snowball problem, where if your Prestige was low you could never recover.
For PzC2 the AO DLCs were set up to avoid this. So yes the AOs have much more prestige available.
The Pacific DLCs has the base game design team, so may be closer to the base game prestige wise.

What the guys said and you cant really compare the campaigns.
In the DLCs you spend a lot of time in scenarios when everything is quite cheap. In the vanilla campaign you need to upgrade all the time to better equipment and everything is getting more expensive.
Right now I am in a playthrough in 1944 historical. I startet with 100k and I am losing around 10k each scenario. If you have to repair on of your tanks you lose 1k, thats more than you might get in the whole scenario.

The DLCs have the advantage of much more scenarios, so like Defiant said expensive upgrading of units is not needed that often, so you just have to repair your army.
And Heros that award prestige deliver a huge (!) amount of prestige of the DLCs, so Galland is a prestige generator even if you dont get more heros with legendary or famous trait.
So the only DLC where i struggle with prestige is SCW, depending on the traits and challenges i chose. And i play without mass capturing.
Basegame is way tougher.

And I assume there is no paying (10,000 on Generalissimus) to go on ahistorical route like in vanilla campaign.

Well the DLCs have severel prestige sinks and resets, but you dont need to buy the ahistorical route via prestige. Instead there are some special goals you have to fulfill to meet the ahistoric route, like helping the 6th army to escape from stalingrad.
