Wheeling during a charge

Can a BG wheel after declaring a charge against an evading BG that goes (wheels) further than he would normally be able to due had the BG decided to stand. Given that the charging BG adheres to the restictions on charging within a ZoC.
Thanks.

You declare your charge path at the time you declare the charge so before anyone declares whether they choose to evade or not. This is necessary so the evaders can decide whether to evade to their rear, away from the direction of the charge or stand.
The only time you can deviate from the declared charge path is to follow evaders. wheel onto the line towards the evaders final position and go straight at them from there. (there is a picture in the book of elephants changing their charge direction to pursue evadging LH).

Thats the crux, you declare the charge path before any evade move..... If the path is not possible b/c of space to the target BG, can the charges bypass this and carry thru???

Tricky. I'd imagine its exactly the same as other charges. If the straight line from the Bg to the evading groups end position encounters other things it can: contract by a base to avoid friends, burst through friends, hit other enemy instead (who may then evade if available to them) etc...

Not sure I fully understand but here is how it works
1. You declare a charge, along with a direction if it is going to be important (albeit the rules say if there are potential evaders there are a few other occasions it matter and we clarified somewhere just to do it if in doubt).
2. This direction can include any wheel physically possible at the time of declaration (so is at time slimited by the location of targets - e.g. if 1mm away there is no room to wheel)
3. Interceptions next - so potential evaders obstruct these too
4. Then evades
5. Then do charges
6. If all a chargers targets have evaded the charger can wheel differently to try to contact them (but not to go away from them)
How does that relate to your secnario?

Your 2nd point ID'd it. There MUST be physical distance at the time of the declaration for the wheel path to extend beyond POC of a BG that holds.
Thanks...
