The original does not allow me to replace any unit. The only way I can do that is to upgrade the unit, if I can. I have all the DLCs and they all work fine with replacements. What can I do with the original game?

Well, if you cant replace units outside of upgrading them, this could be:
- limited stock option is on and you cant replace the unit, because u are out of spare parts for it, so you need to upgrade it to a unit you have parts of
- you have picked "delayed reinforcements" negative general trait on campaign start
If so, you are simply not allowed to replace units during a mission, and using the "upgrade function of supply hexes is the only way to ease that pain
- your unit is captured or prototype eauipment and your stock is empty
- your run out of prestige and "upgrading" a unit to a cheaper unit frees some prestige for the needed repairs of the new unit

that would be my ideas on that issue

Thanks guys but, Nothing I have tried gets any unit any replacements. This continues into any campaign coming out of the original game.

works fine for me so it´s def something u are doing. if u don´t describe in more detail, i cannot help u.

IT has never worked for the original game. However, as I said, all the DFCs work fine. Maybe I have to install it again.
