Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations - 1945 is coming soon

Germany lies in ruins. Relentlessly assaulted on all sides and pounded mercilessly by Allied Strategic Bombing, the German Reich still refuses to admit defeat.  Last ditch counteroffensives are put into action in a desperate attempt to turn the tide of the Second World War.  Will these desperate gambles pay off, or will they continue to heap misery and death upon the German Wehrmacht?

The War Concludes

In the Historical Campaign of 1945 East, you will experience the final months of the Second World War from a perspective so rarely covered in other games of the genre as you prepare your Wehrmacht forces for their final, desperate offensives.

Image

To properly tell this story, the historical campaign focuses extensively on not just the final battles on the Eastern Front, but also the surrounding context.  What did last ditch attacks such as Operation Bodenplatte or Spring Awakening really accomplish, but also at what terrible costs did they come with?

As you fight to the bitter end, learn the real fates of both true Historical German figures and also uncover the fates of the Axis Operation’s unique cast of characters. In doing so, find out for yourself some of the truths of why so many rank and file Wehrmacht soldiers continued the fighting well past any hope of achieving victory in the Second World War.

The War Continues

But once again, the latest Panzer Corps 2 Axis Operations content pack contains yet another campaign!  Be ready to continue the story of Ahistorical 1944 right where it left off after victory at the Battle of Ploesti. Despite repelling the Western Allied landings at Normandy and halting the Soviet invasion of Easter Europe, Germany still stands at an impasse.  Total victory seems further than ever, as Allied resolve is merely shaken and apparently nowhere near broken.  And now another major offensive is prepared in the East, but to what ultimate end?  Can it actually bring total victory, or will it just continue to bleed all nations involved?

Image

Discovered the uncharted history of the Axis Operations 1945 Alternate campaign, and see where it ends... or where it will merely end up next!

To give players the most freedom of choice, both campaigns are immediately available for all players to begin. There are no prerequisites or barriers to launching either campaign.  Newly formed Panzer Corps or deeply imported forces have equal choice in which campaign path to pursue and explore.

Continue with your own Panzer Corps

Players can import their core forces that completed the previous Axis Operations 1944 East campaign or use a preset core force to directly launch into the Axis Operations 1945 East campaign.

While imported forces can seek additional growth and challenges through increased difficulty settings, advanced game modes, and new elite objectives, the preset force contains a moderate amount of experienced units and an assortment of heroes enough to allow any player to succeed in this new campaign.

Total freedom of choice is on offer in Axis Operations 1945. There are no prerequisites or barriers to launching either campaign. Newly formed Panzer Corps or deeply imported forces have equal choice in which campaign path to pursue and explore.

For veteran campaigners with a force ready to import into this latest DLC, it is recommended to continue with your Historical or Ahistorical campaign paths to fully experience the content’s extensive narratives.

The end of the Axis Operations?

The end of 1945 East is (potentially) not the end of your campaign though, it is merely the latest step.  At the conclusion of Axis Operations 1945 East, players will again be presented with the option to save their core force for use in the next installment of the Axis Operations Campaign, should there be one!
Any campaign of the Axis Operations can be played individually as a standalone campaign.

Very much looking forward to this campaign! Thank you so much Slitherine for developing it.

Now trying to analyze the mission names which one of those are historical or ahistorical:

Operation Puma: suspected ahistorical
• Operation Wagtail: suspected ahistorical
• Operation Tannenberg likely ahistorical, counteroffensive and 1st mission?
• Munich: unknown, maybe ahistorical air defense mission vs bombing campaign?
• Operation Feuerkartoffel definitely ahistorical with such a funny name
• Reichstag: I am getting ahistorical coup vibes
• Zahidan: definitely ahistorical, breakthrough to India?
• Operation Hydra: Sounds historical just 2 years too late
• Case Bruno: not sure
• Tata: depends if Tata in Morocco or India (ahistorical) or Hungary (historical)
• Operation Bodenplatte: definitely historical
• Operation Konrad III: definitely historical
• Operation Southwind: definitely historical
• Operation Spring Awakening: definitely historical
• Vienna Offensive: definitely historical
• Battle of Seelow Heights: definitely historical
• End in Berlin: definitely historical
• End in Salzburg: if there is an end in Berlin, why Salzburg? Maybe escape to US Army controlled area?

Edit: looking at the image of Tata in the actual announcement, this is going to be a historical mission. Probably first half until Bruno ahistorical, then everything historical?

I also wonder how this map will be implemented, for example, in which it is necessary to bomb)))
Operation "Hydra"
The operation, code-named "Hydra", was carried out on a moonlit night in order to achieve the highest possible level of target destruction. That is why it can be considered the only case during the second half of the war, when the Allied Bomber Command carried out a night raid of large bomber forces aviation on a small target with the task of conducting as accurate bombing as possible. On the night of August 17-18, 1943, 596 bombers (324 Lancaster, 218 Halifax and 54 Stirling) flew out to bombard Peenemuind. At the same time, Mosquito light bombers attacked Berlin, diverting most of the German night fighters over 2 of the 3 phases of the Peenemuende raid.

Hi there,

thank you for the announcement of the new AO45 DLC :D

But...

Are you shure that Köln (Cologne) and Düsseldorf are modelled on the correct side of the Rhine?

They seem to be on the eastern side of the Rhine - that would be awfully wrong. Remember the famous tank battle scene between a Sherman, a Panther and a Pershing - all in the city center of Cologne on the western side of the town...

Is this only a kind of "mirror"-issue of the screenshots?

If not please try to correct it.

Thanks

Just a thought:

End of AO45 ahistorical could be a retake of the indian corridor to finally beat the British, but's a battle you cannot win (!) even with your most experienced core from SCW and even how often you try ...

Then a/some 'AO West/Africa'-DLC with the goal to reach near the indian corridor to enable the progress into a possible AO46...

Naive?

Ah ok, so until I get an invitation, I can not access the link you gave me. Would explain why it said I need authorization. I signed up yesterday for the forums. Is it too late for me to get an invite? I have an extensive background in coding games, NDA-type things (I'm prior military), and am a historian that specializes in WWII.

Great news! The screenshot of the russian forces already shows a lot of overstrength, so David vs Goliath will be a real challenge. I Like that.
Could be amazing if the old DLCs would be adjusted to the new game style. Elite objectives and stuff :)

Or maybe we get the option to adjust DvG as we like and no flat +5 to enemy units. i would love to give them +10+

Can't wait for sure, looking forward to get back to all of the runs I did, but I hope it will be no earlier than June for time capacity reasons. :D
