Impassable Terrain - How to Implement?

I'm trying to develop a map where a portion of it is off limits. How do I prevent a player (or AI for that matter) from being able to access that area of the map?

I've searched through the forum ("off limits"; "impassable terrain", etc.) and, while finding references to making a given hex impassable cannot find an example of how it is implemented. (Similarly I've looked for examples of custom scenarios but cannot readily find an example of the map / trigger to make this effect happen).

Thank you in advance.

I just reviewed somebody's scenario in which he created a huge barrier in the middle of the map to bifurcate the excessive distance between his two main victory points. (And he provided for reusable exit and redeployment hexes on either side of the barrier for easy transfer between map sections; rather clever, I thought.)

Impassable area is easy. Just include that "faction" in the Neutral column:

Choose Impassable Area for Hex Ownership, and paint hexes on the map accordingly:

The scenario author also chose to use Scorched terrain to differentiate the barrier; you don't have to do that, of course. Here is what it looked like; I put a flag on it to indicate who owns it, which is nobody:

Much appreciated! I kept looking at the hex / terrain / trigger level. I did ahve the area set to 'No Man's Land' but knew that wasn't working via testing. . . . Should have thought to look further at the alliance / teams setup.

FYI the intended implementation is to limit different divisions from another's area of operations - specifically 101st away from 82nd's area (which is addressed in separate scenario). Because the map runs SE to NE I have to include a portion in NW quadrant that I don't want accessed in this scenario.

Thanks again.

My pleasure. I sneaked a sentence about this into my OOB Scenario Editor Manual:

If you have not looked at that manual, you may want to do so the next time you have a question. (Or post in this forum again, of course.) Follow the links found on this page: Design & Modding Guides
