Off map resources?

Any clues how EAW will handle off map resources?
Again referring back to Hitler's War they have a relatively simple system whereby there are boxes and transport routes to a few areas such as India, southern Africa and French Equatorial Africa - each of these has a resource value that requires some criteria be maintained to keep it available. Eg lose the Suez Canal and the Brits can no longer get the 2 points from India. It's fairly simple - it is a board game after all - but it is also quite effective.

Check out the diary for info on convoys. Convoys are not an abstract feature, they actually sail on teh map and are a unit like any other and can be attacked and protected. If the Allies can protect the convoys in to Britain then they'll receive production for them. If not they wont. The Suez can be used but if you want to sail through the med you must be prepared to protect your convoys from the Italian fleet & airforce. There are also convoys from the US & Canada to Britain, plus convoys from Sweden to Germany.

Good - I look forward to it .
Just wondering about hte workload this might represent tho - hopefully a lot of the convoy function will be automated, eg you tell them when to sail, and where to, and then they move automatically every turn?

OK, what about off-map resources for the russian player? Over the course of the war industry east of the urals became fairly well-developed, not least in Siberia.

Convoys are fully automated. We decided this was best to prevent the player grouping them all together for easy protection.
Russian off map production is just added in to their pool, no convoys requried.

Adding to this old post. We have made some changes and the USSR will get murmansk convoys in the game travelling from North America on map to a exit point around Iceland ending up as production for the USSR. Ofcourse, Axis Subs can sink those convoys to prevent it.
We have off-map production and off-map oil. The off-map oil means that all countries will have a individually lowest amount of oil produced per turn despite not having no oil fields on map under control. Industrial tech will increase this off-map oil representing the synthetic oil in real WW2.
Also, the oil consumption model is optional in game so you can play without having the headache of Axis shortages of oil
