Slitherine

I've noticed that when you kill a hero with artifacts and win the battle you don't get the artifacts like you did in classic. But worse, the opponent actually retains the artifact! How can this be? This needs to be fixed.

If I remember correctly (I let a hero die once or twice), the human player does not get the "at least one hero has died, magic items need to be re-distributed" message upon the death of one of their own heroes as well.
I don't remember what happened to the items, if they were lost or went back into the item vault. I honestly don't remember looking.
