Closure of FoGR beta testers

Really looking forward to the development of FoG Renaissance. Hoping it will meet the needs of this fascinating period.

A few queries.

Responding to Nik Gaukroger's posting on the DBMM site about FoGR beta testers and the upcoming competition at Britcon, I signed in here at the Slitherine site and accepted the NDA.

My questions are:

Is the core beta tester list closed for FoGR?

If not, will I get an acknowledgement of my interest, or does no response mean that I have not been approved for whatever reason? Don't have a problem with this, just would like to know.

There is nothing in the sign up process that asks you to present your qualifications for inclusion (over 35 years wargaming, played Renaissance sets from way back then including Gush, Tunstall, WRG, Tercio, Newbury, Forlorn Hope, DBR, Regiment of Foote, 1644, ECW Warhammer, plus homegrown sets, among others; over 15 years membership of Wargames Developments; BA(Hons) in History, UCL specialising in early medieval and Renaissance history; and lots of painted and unpainted lead!).

If it is indeed closed, indications have been given that those who enter the Britcon competition will be given access to the rules and army lists (because they will need them obviously).

My questions on this are:

Will that make them full beta testers - i.e. will they be given access to the beta area of the forum for the rest of the beta test period, or is their feedback limited to this competition?

If they are entering the competition, when will that access be given? Will it be pretty much immediately on submitting an entry and payment, or will it be just before the event?

Thanks

Jonathan

Jonathan,

The beta test is closed - all those included will have recieved their stuff.

As for the other questions they're for Slitherine to answer I'm afraid - may be worth dropping JD a direct question as I suspect it is unlikely that it'll be picked up from here too quickly.

Hopefully you'll be able to make Britcon - if so I'll see you there.

Thanks Nik

I assumed that was the case with the beta testers, but it's nice to have it confirmed. Perhaps the site could indicate that - 'cos you can still apparently sign up to be a beta tester. I know that's an issue for Slitherine but perhaps you could pass it on.

As regards Britcon, I'll firm up my plans and decide if I can really attend - then address my questions again. I have to say my reasons for these questions is that I don't want to go to the trouble of working up to and playing in an early beta test competition if I have only a short time to build up to it and am only able to feed back on that competition not the rest of the testing process.

Regardless, I still look forward to a new set of Renaissance rules.

Hi
I know the beta testers are now closed.
Only have 25mm figures so can't apply for Britcon
Is there any way I could see the Moghul list to comment on it?
Indian renaissance is my main interest
I agreed to the NDA when I signed up for Beta not realising beta had closed

One of the features of Indian Renaissnce warfare was the importance of intelligence
One of the descriptions of I think Shivaji describes him holding the missives of his various spies
in between his various digits
Clearly the Moghuls are denying their enemies any valuable intelligence
I know somebody who knows somebody who has 15mm Moghuls
maybe I could persuade him to lend me them so I can take em to Britcon
I knew I should have looked down the back of my sofa for a few hundred quid
for that 15mm moghul army on ebay couple of months ago
