Combats involving Ambush

It seems that Vigilant hero does not prevent an Ambush from using the unit's Close Defence? I remember my Vigilant KV-2 getting wreched by the Ambusher T-38 in Klin.
And, any idea how will First Strike and Ambusher interact with each other?

Being "Ambushed" changes the basic battle rules.
The attacker always goes first and always goes for the close defense rating.

there's 2 heroes that deal with ambush. one is SixthSense and the other is Ambusher. I've never used them but I think the Sixth Sense smells out an ambush, and Ambusher is always in ambush mode? like I said, I've added a couple to my Hero List but have never used them.

nothing protects from ambusher hero, not even sixth sense, that hero only negates "natural" ambushes.

sadly "ambusher" is not a hero a player can achieve without cheating (or im really unlucky) but ok that might be a little OP like on the roll in players hands

Best way to deal with an ambusher is with suppression.
He'll get the first shot but all the suppressed units won't fire and then you'll be able to get damage in.
Aircraft are also pretty effective.

i am pretty sure he is not on the list of heros u can get by chance. way to powerful, yes.
but its pretty nice to set up traps or hard to penetrate phalanxes.
