Fog of War.
The Germans are racing to capture supply depots, the Brits are defending them from the Germans.
The SAS is dropped in to destroy the depots before the Germans can capture them.
Hilarity ensues.

I see that now -- seemed very odd at first, then I noticed they were only attacking the depots.

Yup, this is definitely a case of some 'battlefield confusion' going on.
