In my current Grand Campaign one thing that in which I am focusing are ATGs. Does anyone use the Nashorn or is it like the Marder series that just doesn't compete with the StuG series?
Thanks for any opinions.

at time of its first appearance the players prestige in GC should be high enough to not take chances using it and to follow the more rational path. in MP, however, i can imagine it could be quite interesting to be forced to use such options out of constant shortage of prestige.

I purchased one when they first became available, though I'm not sure it was worth it. It has pretty good firepower, but its armor is paper-thin, so it can also take a lot of damage if it isn't always backed up by artillery and attacking suppressed targets. The stugs I have are definitely better all-around. I'm looking forward to seeing if the Nashorn's upgrade path is at all worth it though.

yeah, Nashorn is too fragile. even it hit first due to initiative it also takes damage.

on a difficulty like Manstein units with great defence are appritiate more with campaign runs. also its easier to eliminate heavy tanks use strategic bombers.

I only use them because I have added a switch for Marder-type AT (Panzerjager 1 to Nashorn) which allows them to provide defensive fire and put them all in the same series for affordable updates. The Nashorn defensive fire when backing up other units is pretty effective. Even though in defensive mode it fires as artillery and only at 80% ROF, the 24HA does enough to be useful, but it's still a bomber magnet due to high cost and weak AD.
WIthout the switch I'd ignore the Nashorn and wait for the Elefant.

I have tried Nashorn and in certain circumstances can be quite effective in an anti tank role only. So, I think is fun to try using it.

I just finished GC43 again and I agree with the other posters. Nashorn is a quite fun unit which can be effective under the right circumstances but it is let down by the high price and being a magnet for enemy artillery and aircraft. During my last play through I was swimming in prestige so it was fun to use it but otherwise I would stick with StuG III until Elefant comes along.
