Lost Azul Infantry

I’m playing your newest DCL, 1943 East.

When I finish turn 25 of the last mission in the prior DLC, all of my infantry has custom names and two Azul infantry are present.

Then I start the new DLC for 1943 East, transferring my forces. For the infantry, the custom names are gone and the Azul infantry has been replaced by pioneers. The armor, air, and other units transferred correctly, along with their custom names.

Check the autosave from your last turn in the last AO, I think you must have upgraded them accidentally.

Nope, I've gone back to that last turn three times and there they are, in the custom uniform and custom name and showing as Azul.

Since posting this, however, I did find a way to keep them.

I had to quit after that turn and then start the 1943 campaign and chose the army to import.

Have you played AO42 more than once?
You may have loaded wrong core.
If one exits the last scenario without clicking the last 'End Turn', the game will not create a saved Core.
Example if you click on 'Review Battlefield' and then exit without clicking 'End Turn', no new core.

The problem occurs when I complete the prior DLC and get the screen asking if I want to continue to the next (the 1943 East) DLC with the same army. If I say yes, then the Azuls become pioneers and my custom infantry names are lost.

The problem doesn't occur if I say no to continuing and, instead quit and then start the 1943 East and pick the same army to start it with.
